Task: Updating Chapter 5. As the assessor from FYP Exhibition has been giving opinion and comment on my project, so I put it in the recommendation of Chapter 5.
Recommendations
For the recommendation, this project need a lot of improvement even though the project was successfully operated. The sensor was very sensitive and it just measure the pulse rate straightaway without knowing the persons was not in resting position.
When observing the Serial Monitor, the heart rate measurement and track plays were displayed some error even though it played the right track. For example, the heart rate was 87 BPM and playing track 128. It should be on track 3. In the SD Card of MP3 Shield there were only four tracks. Some fix should be made in future so that it displayed the right track number with the heart rate measurement.
As for this project only play the audio of heart rate status, it should play the number of heart rate too. Blind persons would not know the exact number of heart rate if the status only played through earphone. It may be the audio delivered as normal heart rate but the reading of BPM was 100, which nearly to higher heart rate and vice versa. The recommendation is to add more track with the number of heart rate played though earphone.
Another recommendation is this project should use Electrocardiogram (ECG) to compare the measurement of heart rate with pulse sensor. For this project, pulse oximeter has been used to compare with pulse sensor by taking the reading displayed on the patient monitor. The pulse oximeter’s BPM reading should only the number of heart rate. To measure the exact heart rate, the ECG machine should be used and print the ECG wave on trace paper. After that measure the heart rate from R to R wave by using caliper method.
For advanced recommendation, the data sent to the IoT should be use widely. As this project need same Internet source to connect ESP8266 NodeMCU and ThingSpeak, the project was able to connect with Internet but in small range of coverage. It should be upgraded by using Internet wherever the place is.
